Cultural Educational Center “ZMAJ” was founded by Ana Marjanovic-Shane, Nevena Vuckovic-Sahovic and Beka Vuco.
Ana lives in Philadelphia since 1984. She received her M.A. Degree in developmental psychology in Belgrade and her Ph.D. Degree at the University of Pennsylvania. Ana studies development of creativity, language and cognition. In her opinion, play, dramatic activities, visual arts and music play a great role in the human development.
Nevena is director of the Center for Children's Rights in Belgrade. Nevena started Cultural Educational Center ZMAJ because she thought that our children in diaspora don't have appropriate programs which could help them develop through getting to know their own culture.
Beka worked for over fifteen years as the Producing and Managing Director of the prestigious avant-garde Theatre “Atelje 212” and BITEF festival in Belgrade. She also worked as the Cultural Affairs Specialist at the American Embassy in Belgrade. In USA Beka worked with with various regional and off Broadway performing arts organizations. In 1991, she joined Open Society Institute as the Regional Director and helped established offices in the Western Balkans. She continues to work in this role as the Regional Director for that part of the world.
